Making Fresh Magic Mushroom Tea

One of our favorite methods of consuming fresh or dry magic mushrooms is by drinking them in a tea. We find this method a bit gentler on our stomachs, especially when we filter out the solids from the hot tea. Fresh mushrooms are our absolute favorate, as they also contain Psilocin, whose effects can be felt shortly after drinking. The tea has an earthy, mushroomy and even slightly bitter taste. For some, this is an acquired flavor. If this is not your cup of tea (really poor pun, but we had to), then you can add sugar to make the tea sweeter and more palatable.

Depending on the amount of mushrooms you use, the effects of the tea can be felt for about 4-5 hours or more. First timers should start with low doses so that they can get acclimated to the effects without being overwhelmed. Dosage Table can be found below.

Video Tutorial : Preparing Fresh Magic Mushroom Tea

Step 1 : Chop up the Fresh or Dry Mushrooms with a Sharp Knife

Clean the mushrooms from any remaining substrate. Measure the exact amount of mushrooms you want to consume. Freshly picked Psilocybe Cubensis mushrooms are made of approximately 85% water, which is a rough estimate you can use when calculating dry vs fresh. Either way, chop the mushrooms into small pieces and place them in a cup. By chopping finely, you create more surface area to come in contact with the hot water.

Step 2 : Pour Boiling Water into Tea Cup with Mushrooms Inside

Bring the water to a gentle boil and add it to the cup of chopped mushrooms. Stir gently and wait for about 20 minutes, while occasionally stirring the solids around. The mushrooms will gradually release their active ingredients into the hot water, thus creating an infusion. You can add sugar or a sweetener to change the taste of the liquid and make it more palatable.

Step 3 : Drink up, with or without the Mushroom Fruit Solids

Once the tea has cooled off and is ready, you can choose to drink the tea together with the solids, or to filter out the solids and drink the liquid only.  Filtering out the solids helps soften nausea or stomach discomfort , both of which are known side effects of the magic mushroom tea. If you decide to filter out the solids, you can reuse them for another, less concentrated tea extraction by pouring hot water over them again.
